"Backstage" dives deep into rock history, music, and into Ben's Rolling Stone archive of interviews and stories. Fong-Torres, the venerable rock writer, author, radio host and San Francisco Chronicle radio columnist plays music and shares anecdotes from his storied past, which ranges from his days as a lead Editor/Writer for Rolling Stone Magazine to his experiences writing books on the Doors, Motown Records, Top 40 radio and other music-related subjects. Additionally, for the last 11-years Fong-Torres has been the Emmy-award winning KTVU co-host of San Francisco’s Chinese New Year parade.
As a seasoned and esteemed music veteran, Fong-Torres provides exciting insider information about some of the greatest artists and songs ever created. “Backstage” with Ben Fong-Torres brings together music fans who are looking to hear some of music’s most classic interviews and stories from the man who wrote and experienced them.
Fong-Torres also features rarities from his personal music library, along with excerpts from interviews he has conducted with Classic Hits artists like Elton John, Paul McCartney, Marvin Gaye, Bonnie Raitt, Jim Morrison and Stevie Wonder. “But it’s not all about yesterday”, noted Fong-Torres. “My weekly show on KFRC will entertain Classic Hits listeners by taking them ‘backstage’ to hear interesting stories and songs from some of my favorite artists.”
